Two Hopkinsville women were injured in a serious traffic collision Sunday morning on Fort Campbell Boulevard, according to local authorities. The crash resulted in one vehicle overturning and left one driver with severe injuries requiring air transport to a Nashville hospital.
The accident occurred at approximately 8:54 a.m. along Fort Campbell Boulevard, a heavily traveled roadway in Hopkinsville. According to the Hopkinsville Police Department, 39-year-old Whitney Frost was operating a northbound sport utility vehicle and attempting to turn into the Arby’s restaurant when her vehicle collided with a southbound passenger car driven by 18-year-old Kiesherra Cushenberry.
The impact of the collision caused Frost’s SUV to overturn. The vehicle came to rest upside down, prompting a significant emergency response from local police, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
Responders from the Hopkinsville Police Department, Hopkinsville Fire Department, and Hopkinsville EMS arrived at the scene and immediately began assisting the injured drivers while securing the crash site.
According to Captain Payton Rogers of the Hopkinsville Fire Department, Frost sustained a severe leg injury as a result of the collision. Due to the seriousness of her condition, emergency crews transported her from the scene to a designated landing zone where she was transferred to a medical helicopter and airlifted to a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, for advanced treatment.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the full extent of Frost’s injuries. Family members, friends, and community residents have expressed concern and support as she continues to receive medical care.
Cushenberry sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Officials reported that her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
