Wanda J. White Obituary, Death: Oshkosh Native and Former Radio Personality has Died

Wanda J. White, affectionately known to generations of Wisconsin radio listeners as “Holly Michaels,” passed away peacefully at her home in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on June 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 61 years old.

Born on September 24, 1964, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Wanda was the daughter of William and Barbara Colburn White. Raised in a close-knit community along Lake Winnebago, she developed an early appreciation for storytelling, communication, and community connection—values that would define both her personal and professional life.

Wanda graduated from Oshkosh, Wisconsin North High School in 1983 and later earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. It was during this time that her passion for media and broadcasting began to take shape, leading her into a distinguished career in radio.

She went on to become a beloved radio personality across Wisconsin, working under the on-air name “Holly Michaels.” Wanda’s voice became a trusted presence on stations including WOSH, WYNE/WROE, WPKR in Oshkosh, and WMYX in Milwaukee. Known for her warmth, authenticity, and deep connection to her audience, she brought local news, music, and community stories into the daily lives of countless listeners. Her ability to make each listener feel personally seen and heard made her a cherished figure in Wisconsin broadcasting.

Beyond radio, Wanda continued her lifelong commitment to community connection. After stepping away from full-time broadcasting, she worked at the Oshkosh YMCA, where she welcomed members with the same kindness and familiarity that had defined her on-air career. She remained a familiar and comforting presence to many in her hometown.

Wanda was known for her vibrant personality and wide-ranging interests. She was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed tennis, racquetball, and pickleball. She was also a devoted fan of country music, especially the music and artistry of Reba McEntire, whose work she deeply admired.

She will be remembered for her generosity, humor, and remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Whether behind a microphone, at the YMCA front desk, or on the tennis court, Wanda made others feel valued, welcomed, and understood.

Wanda is survived by her mother, Barbara White; her brother, Kevin White (Cindy Hayman); and extended family members including her aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on June 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home Eastside, 402 Waugoo Avenue, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Oshkosh.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to a charity supporting community engagement or local youth programs, honoring Wanda’s lifelong dedication to connection and service.

Wanda J. White’s voice, warmth, and presence will be deeply missed throughout Oshkosh and beyond. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through radio, community service, and everyday kindness.
