Authorities have identified three individuals who were killed in a tragic shooting at a residence in the Tuscany Village Subdivision in Alton. The victims have been named as 56-year-old Sweeta Ram, 46-year-old Kamlesh Rani, and 73-year-old Mindeer Kaur. Their deaths have left the local community in mourning as investigators continue working to determine the circumstances behind the violence.

According to Alton Police Department Chief Mark Perez, officers were dispatched at approximately 9:13 p.m. on Tuesday following reports of a disturbance at a home in the 3701 block of East Roosevelt Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals who had already died at the scene, while a third victim was found critically injured.

Emergency responders transported the surviving victim to a local hospital for urgent medical care. Despite efforts to save them, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the third victim died the following morning, bringing the total number of fatalities to three.

On Wednesday afternoon, authorities officially released the identities of the victims: Sweeta Ram, Kamlesh Rani, and Mindeer Kaur. Officials have not confirmed whether the victims were related or what connection, if any, they may have had to the suspect.

Police stated that the suspect fled the residence prior to officers arriving but was later located following a vehicle pursuit. The chase ended when the suspect crashed near 4 Mile Line Road and Glasscock Road, where officers took the individual into custody without further incident.

Throughout the day, investigators remained at the scene collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and processing the residence as part of an ongoing investigation. Law enforcement also conducted neighborhood canvassing in an effort to gather additional information from residents who may have seen or heard relevant details.

Authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public, noting that the situation has been contained. However, the motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains active.

As the Alton community comes to terms with the tragedy, family members and loved ones of the victims are receiving support while grieving an unimaginable loss.
